On March 6, Buddhist Era 2548 (2005) Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra leads a special Tipiṭaka Pilgrimage from Thailand to Colombo, Sri Lanka. The Princess presents the world's first international Romanised Pāḷi Tipiṭaka edition in 40 volumes entitled The Buddhist Era 2500 (1956) Great International Council Edition "Māhāsaṅgīti Tipiṭaka Buddhavasse 2500" in Roman script, as a Royal Gift of Dhamma, to Her Excellency Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga the President of the Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

This inaugural Tipiṭaka presentation also marks the auspicious occasion of the 112th anniversary of the publication of King Chulachomklao the Great of Siam Edition Bangkok Era 112 (1893), the world's first printed set of the Tipiṭaka in Pāḷi language. Printed with the most advanced Western Technology of the day in Siamese script, King Chulalongkorn Chulachomklao presented over 500 sets of the Siamese-script Tipiṭaka Edition to royal monasteries throughout the kingdom and no less than 260 sets to leading international institutions all over the world, including Sri Lanka.

To follow the royal magnanimous footsteps of the King of Siam's Tipiṭaka publication in 1893, the Dhamma Society under the Patronage of His Holiness Somdet Phra Ñāṇasaṃvara the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand consequently undertook the new proof-reading and editing between 1999-2004 of the Great International Council Edition Buddhist Era 2500. In 2005, the new International Council Edition of Pāḷi Tipiṭaka in Roman script was published by the Dhamma Society.  Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana, who is the Royal Matriarch of King Chulalongkorn Chulachomklao's descendants, graciously acepted to be the Honorary President of Tipiṭaka Presentation Worldwide. The international Pāḷi Tipiṭaka edition in Roman script is to be presented as a Royal Gift of Dhamma from the Kingdom of Thailand to leading international institutions of the world.
