Statement
More than one hundred years ago King Chulalongkorn Chulachomklao of Siam visited Norway. From him Norway received The 1893 King of Siam Pāḷi Tipiṭaka Edition which is still used by students of Buddhism in the University Library in Oslo. Since this Royal gift was bestowed on us, Buddhism has established itself in Norway, and now - in part organized by the Buddhist Federation of Norway - a translation of selected texts from the Tipiṭaka from Pāḷi into Norwegian is in progress. At this moment it is especially welcome to receive this Royal gift of the World Tipiṭaka Edition in Roman Script. A quick look at the Dhamma Society's web pages gives a glimpse of all the meritous work that has produced this edition of the Tipiṭaka. In a world where there is still war we may have some hope for peace when we know that the Buddha's words have not been forgotten but are in fact disseminated.

เป็นเวลากว่าหนึ่งร้อยปีมาแล้ว ที่พระบาทสมเด็จพระปรมินทรมหาจุฬาลงกรณ์จุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวแห่งกรุงสยาม ได้เสด็จเยือนประเทศนอร์เวย์ จากพระองค์ท่าน ประเทศนอร์เวย์ได้รับพระราชทานพระไตรปิฎกปาฬิ ฉบับอักษรสยาม ร.ศ. 112 (พ.ศ. 2436) ซึ่งยังใช้อยู่โดยนักศึกษาทางพระพุทธศาสนาในหอสมุดแห่งมหาวิทยาลัยในกรุงออสโล ภายหลังจากที่ได้พระราชทานพระไตรปิฎกธัมมทานชุดนี้ พระพุทธศาสนาก็ได้ประดิษฐานขึ้นในประเทศนอร์เวย์ และปัจจุบันสหพันธ์พระพุทธศาสนาแห่งนอร์เวย์ ได้มีส่วนในการจัดแปลบางส่วนของปาฬิในพระไตรปิฎกเป็นภาษานอรเวย์ ในช่วงเวลานี้จึงเป็นที่น่าต้อนรับพระไตรปิฎกสากลอักษรโรมันฉบับพระธัมมทานนี้ จากการตรวจดูเว็บไซด์ของกองทุนสนทนาธัมม์นำสุขฯ ในพระสังฆราชูปถัมภ์ฯ ก็ได้ปรากฏให้รับทราบถึงงานกุศลที่ได้ผลิตพระไตรปิฎกสากลฉบับนี้ในโลกที่ยังมีสงคราม เรามีความหวังในสันติสุข เมื่อพระพุทธพจน์ของสมเด็จพระสัมมาสัมพุทธเจ้ายังมิได้ถูกลืมเลือนแต่กำลังได้เผยแผ่ออกไปให้แพร่หลาย Archive Images – ภาพจดหมายเหตุ |
